More Computer Info

Monday, August 29th, 2005

Well isn’t this wonderful?!… Not.

First my motherboard broke (see here and here for more info), and now my graphics card is broken! It was a (pretty much) brand new card, I’d only been using it for about 3 or 4 days after I got it before the motherboard packed in.

And now, to top it all off, Royal Mail and/or Overclockers UK have managed to misplace my almost-brand-new, £200 graphics card! :|
(Also, as I was on holiday it’s been lost now for over two weeks so what hope have I/they of finding it now?!)

I am in contact with OcUK and will be in contact with R.M. too if this isn’t sorted out very quickly… Back to gaming at 800×600 with no AntiAliasing or AnisotropicFiltering for now I guess…

Just a very quick note to say, please take a few moments to read and sign the petition for Messenger Plus!

You may want to know why I am asking you to sign it… Well if you are I suggest you take a look at what Messenger Plus! offers to its users, the number of people using and downloading it everyday, and the fact I both use and love it you will (hopefully) understand why :)

Holiday

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

Well I just returned back from my two-week holiday to the South Coast of the UK… The weather was very good in the first week and mostly ok in the second week. So apart from a bit of rain and wind it was good.

I’ll post some pictures up on my gallery, probably tomorrow.

Computer Status

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

Well I have been in email contact with DFI (the manufacturer of my motherboard) and I would swear by now I’ve tried every combination of hardware I can…! With the TechSupport’s help and advice I seem to have narrowed it down to my graphics card being at fault in regards to the errors with it, although the Tech guy also said that my Chipset heatsink shouldn’t be as hot as I said it was (far too hot to touch) and they may need to take another look at it.

*Sigh*… Why they couldn’t look at it when they had the board last time I don’t know, but I’m not sending it off untill my graphics card works again.

So I’m back on my GeForce 4 Ti 4200 for now, although I fixed my RAM issue! The board limits the speed, unless it’s manually set, when you have more than one slot occupied! Stupid, but at least its easily avoidable…
Perhaps a case of RTFM!! :P
