I forget who, but a user on the Neowin.net Forums gave me an idea - to create a fancy diagram of my LAN, showing all the switches, routers and links between them.
So here is the outcome:

I also created a future diagram for how the Network will probably be like after I move rooms later this month:

I got a new network switch for my home LAN today. It’s an HP Procurve 2324, which retails for about £240 including VAT.
The Procurve 2324 is a 1U rack-mount switch, and has 24 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports. It can handle about 6.6 million packets per second, has an internal switching rate of 9.6 Gbits/second, and has a delay of less than 10 micro-seconds. It also has two tranceiver slots for extra Gigabit uplink or stacking modules.
I’m not actually using it yet, as it has a rather noisy fan inside. Once I move into my new room, I’ll find a place where it can run without interrupting my sleep
